“Households with middle and upper incomes think that the State does not support them in their energy renovation. We carried out a study to show them that they can obtain up to 17,000 euros from their metropolis in addition to national aid MaPrimeRénov’ », explains Baudouin de La Varende, co-founder of Ithaque, a design office engaged in energy renovation. Indeed, two thirds of the applications financed in 2022 were submitted by modest and very modest households, according to the National Housing Agency (Anah) who controls the device.
Ithaca has therefore established a double ranking of the most advantageous metropolises in terms of financial support for energy renovation work depending on the level of household wealth. These cities provide local aid in addition to national boosts. Ithaca relied on the data present on the website of the National Agency for Housing Information (Anil), and compared the information given on the website of each metropolis. “Six did not respond to us: Marseille, Lille, Toulon, Metz, Orléans, Saint-Etienne», Lists the co-founder of Ithaca. What about Paris which also does not appear in the Ithaca ranking? The company classifies aid for individual housing. However, Paris has more collective housing. “We have not selected aid for collective housing because this aid is more complicated to compare, it varies depending on the number of lots for example», justifies Baudoin de la Varende.
Rouen, the most generous metropolis
Each metropolis has its own policy. Rouen is the most generous. It can pay up to 17,800 euros in aid for both middle and higher incomes. “The Normandy region is extremely voluntary in terms of financing the overall renovation», Analyzes Baudoin de la Varende. Conversely, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region does not provide specific aid. Financial support therefore only comes from the metropolis of Lyon directly.
These financial boosts are paid almost systematically for large-scale renovations, that is to say for households carrying out several works. “Often, among this aid are bonuses allocated if households use biosourced materials such as wood fiber, cellulose wadding or hemp. The Normandy region notably offers a bonus of around 500 to 1000 euros in order to bridge the price gap. These are more efficient materials but cost more», specifies Baudouin de La Varende. Enough to reassure wealthier households.
