One day laterPoseidon’s week, a bad surprise awaited businesses cruise which sail to the Greek islands, but also to continental destinations.
They were informed about last Monday, June 10 that refundable passenger fees for islands with a port fund, are set at 2.5 euros, compared to 1 euro applied until now, for the implementation of the ISPS Code. This is the International Code for the Safety of Ships and Port Facilities and includes the minimum number of security provisions for ships, ports and government agencies.
Reimbursable fees are fees paid to Port funds who apply the ISPS Code, to passengers on international cruise ships. Applies to ports that are not organizations and for the Port Funds that apply the ISPS Code because there are also Port Funds that have the plan, but have not implemented it.
Has power, currently in 15 portsfour of them are in the Cyclades (why not Paros?): Agios Nikolaos, Kos, Monemvasia, Mykonos, Myrina, Nafplio, Naxos, Patmos, Rhodes, SantoriniSouda, Spetses, SyrosSymi and Zakynthos
In practice, a cruise ship carrying 4,000 passengers would pay €4,000 per approach under the old rate. Thour, he is required to pay 10,000 euros. If the cruise ship concerned makes ten calls during the tourist season to one of the aforementioned ports, it will be asked to pay 100,000 euros, with an increase rate of 150%.
This decision sparked reactions, since it was taken at the start of the tourist season, when companies had done their planning and calculated the operating costs of their fleets by destination.
