Crete: Increases in archaeological site tickets

Sharp increases in entrance tickets to museums and places of cultural interest on the island of Crete, are in addition to the changes planned for the island in view of the tourist season. According to the Ministry of Culture, it is imperative, taking into account the data of the growing traffic of the last 2 years, the use of the electronic ticket in 28 places, to date, with the highest traffic and the fact that the prices current ones, revised 5 years ago, are very low compared to the European average.

Among other things, the different pricing, which was in effect during the summer and winter season, is removed and the same entry price per category will be applied throughout the year. The proposal for the new pricing policy is based on a special study commissioned by the Competent Organization for the Management and Development of Cultural Resources and will take place in two phases.

Phase 1, effective from 1.4.2024: Removal of single-entry tickets for more than one archaeological site or museum, when an electronic ticket is applied entirely or partially and they are connected to museums-NPDD.

Phase B, effective from 1.4.2025: Rationalization of the price of entry tickets, according to the classification of archaeological sites, monuments and museums into 5 categories depending on the number of visitors, sometimes their importance in the respective area and the Valid entry ticket. .
