A pavilion hit by a crane after land subsidence threatens to collapse

A cascading reaction that could have ended even worse. In Méry-sur-Oise (Val d’Oise), land subsidence puts a local family in difficulty. As reported by Actu.frthe movement of the ground had an impact on a construction crane located in the territory of this small town of 10,000 inhabitants. It then hit a pavilion in the middle of the afternoon on Friday, causing significant structural damage.

Firefighters from a Rescue and Research Unit (Usar), specialized in intervening and securing sites in collapsed or ruined environments, intervened to assess the damage. The two adults and two children who lived there had been evacuated beforehand and rehoused by the municipality. A danger order was issued by the Val-d’Oise prefecture to highlight the uninhabitable nature of the place.

Compensation

We will now have to go through expert assessments and insurance companies before carrying out work and compensation. A process that can be long and complex. In their misfortune, this family will undoubtedly be luckier than this couple from the North, whose house collapsed two months after its acquisition. Even if they went through a real estate agency and an architect, they found themselves without a roof while having to pay 45,000 euros to demolish their property which threatened to collapse on the neighborhood.
