Presented by Annabelle Viollet, its regional director, the results in New Aquitaine of the Banque des Territoires in terms of supporting the investment of local authorities, the ecological transformation and the revitalization of medium-sized towns prove to be exceptional.
The one which advises and finances investments, in addition to communities, local public companies, HLM organizations, legal professions, businesses and financial players, announces having signed new loans worth 16.3 billion euros in France in 2023, setting a new record. “In the region, we have signed loans worth 967 million euros,” underlines Annabelle Viollet, “but also 112 million euros of equity investment. »
“We played our countercyclical role in 2023”
“In particular, by increasing our funding for local authorities by 20%, we played our countercyclical role in 2023 when the effects of the energy and financial crises, with the rise in interest rates, hit. We have sometimes taken over from bank financing that is more complicated to obtain,” continues the regional director.
Despite increases in interest rates and material costs, the reinforced commitment of the Banque des Territoires would have enabled social landlords to maintain their level of investment in the construction and renovation of housing in 2023. The legal professions, notably notaries, impacted by the real estate crisis, benefited from 39 million euros to meet their project financing and banking services needs.
For 2024, the Banque des Territoires anticipates stagnation in investments, but with regard to loans to communities, “the number of applications presented may suggest that we will experience another record year,” concludes Annabelle Viollet.
