The signing of a social diversity contract on Thursday May 2 by 11 public actors in urban planning and housing gathered around Mayor Philippe Aramendi was followed through our columns by the head of the list of the opposition group Urrugne pour tous, Francis Gavilan. The former first deputy, who notes the recognized untenable nature of the housing production objective which is set in it, of course did not miss the passage on the “unpleasant legacy” left behind, according to Philippe Aramendi , by the team of Mayor Odile de Coral.

“For the record, the 2017-2020 roadmap drawn up by the prefect provided for the production of 186 social housing units. We have delivered 116, and started construction on 67. Not counting the dozens of housing units in social accession, BRS, at controlled prices or at market price. Because that’s what social diversity is: accommodating all social categories”, he assumes “fully”.

“The point in 2029…”

“Since then, Philippe Aramendi has committed to creating 325 social housing units over the 2020-2022 period. Unable to keep its promise, it increased to 201 social housing units for the period 2023-2025, for the same result. Zero points,” he continues, observing that the deadline is therefore once again pushed back by three years.

“We will take stock in 2029”, he insists, endeavoring to recall that the PLU adopted in 2019 opened up possibilities, but that these could not be realized due to the “ideological” choice of the current majority to limit itself only to real estate programs under public project management. During an assessment of the first four years of mandate drawn two months ago his group called it “an allergy to real estate developers.”

“If we have to talk about inheritance, I can assure that in 2026 the liabilities of social housing, but also that of a catastrophic financial balance sheet will, at least, result in exemption from all inheritance taxes,” concludes Francis Gavilan .
