HLM offices denounce “out of law” proposals

Emmanuelle Cosse, president of the confederation of social landlords, and former Minister of Housing, strongly criticized certain proposals for the legislative elections which she judges “outside the Constitution and outside the law”.

The president of the confederation of social landlords Emmanuelle Cosse estimated that “not everything is equal in the political debate”, warning about the positions of the RN on housing in view of the legislative elections. The former environmentalist minister (2016-2017) spoke at the Housing Conference, alongside other federation bosses from a sector already in crisis and considering themselves lacking in listening from the public authorities.

Emmanuelle Cosse denounced “extremely strong attacks by a political party, by its deputies and including by legislative proposals which have been tabled in recent months” against the HLM sector, a reference to the RN and its defense of principle of “preference” or “national priority”.

“Hangover”

The former Minister of Housing reacted in particular to the comments of the president of the Building Federation (FFB) Olivier Salleron at the same round table. The latter called for “a government of national unity on housing” after the legislative elections, “a utopian aspiration”, he then admitted.

“Everyone should agree on a common program to revive housing and social construction,” he told AFP.

Asked about the possibility that the next government would be in the colors of the RN, he replied representing “an apolitical federation: we will work with the people appointed, democratically elected by the French”.

“If elected officials are truly on the ground, (housing) is transpartisan. They know that (…) for our fellow citizens it is an emergency,” he added.

At the round table, the president of the National Real Estate Federation (Fnaim) Loïc Cantin, who recalled the existence of a “fundamental disagreement” between his organization and the RN, warned against the “high probability that no majority really emerges.”

“I think that on July 8, we will wake up with a hangover,” said the boss of Fnaim, announcing that his “road map” will be “the general interest of housing (bonus)”.
