Technical issues have disrupted airline services after Microsoft reported an outage of all its online services. According to analytics firm Citium, more than 2,000 flights were cancelled worldwide today.
At Eleftherios Venizelos, three flights have been cancelled so far, all three from US airlines.
These are a United flight and two Delta Airlines flights, which normally arrived in the morning at Athens airport, but their return will probably not take place today due to malfunctions in the USA.
For the rest, the disruption still exists because, as ot.gr wrote in our country, its systems “Eleftherios Venizelos” was not affected There is however a problem with some airlines using Microsoft systems which have been affected, particularly ground services of low-cost airlines.
Therefore, ground services in these airlines are carried out manually, such as check-in, which leads to flight delays.
Additionally, as we are in the summer season, delays may also be due to the normal operation of air transport during this period.
Microsoft and Airports
SKY Express flights are operating normally, with its activity unaffected by the outage at Microsoft, according to information provided by the company in its press release.
“SKY Express, on the occasion of the publications in the national and international press regarding the problems that have been presented to the airlines due to a problem with a system supplier, informs its passengers that its flights are operating normally and that the commercial operation of the company has not been affected, he said in a characteristic manner.
Previously, AEGEAN had issued a statement that “as reflected in international press reports, due to problems with an antivirus system supplier, problems have been created in air transport worldwide, but without significantly affecting our own business activity. However, due to the problems caused throughout the global chain and support systems, some services on our site have been affected, and our flights to and from the airports whose operations have been affected may also be affected. Our passengers can be informed from all official channels of the company.”
Huge problems are being recorded at airports in planet after technical failure at Microsoft Corp. Dozens of flights are being canceled as many routes are on a knife edge.
Airports in the UK and around the world are reporting delays, with some flights grounded. In Australia, airports, shops and communications are being affected, with the Australian National Cyber Security Coordinator calling it a “large-scale technical outage”.
