Kavita Kaushik Quits TV Due to Regressive Content and Long Working Hours – Exclusive

Times Now/Telly Talk India has some breaking news for you that is sure to stir up a mix of emotions. Kavita Kaushikknown for her fiery role in FIR and her stint in Bigg Boss, has decided to bid adieu to the television industry. In an exclusive chat with us, Kavita opens up about the reasons that pushed her to quit, citing the increasingly regressive content and gruelling work schedules. She currently lives in the mountains of Uttarakhand with her husband Ronnit Biswas and tells us about her life there. Let’s dive into the conversation!

“I can’t work 30 days”

Kavita Kaushik complains about the working hours in television and tells us, “Television is very tough. I can’t work 30 days a day. I am open to doing web shows or films, but I am not a typical heroine who can easily be cast in all kinds of shoots. There are only a few types of roles that suit my personality. I keep getting offered TV projects on dayans like Shaitaani Rasmein. But I can’t have the same life that I had three years ago when I was doing television full-time. I am grateful for that time, but I was young and wanted money. But now, I can’t dedicate that much time. In fact, when FIR didn’t take much time, I used to complain.”

“TV content is so regressive”

Kavita Kaushik adds, “Television content is also very regressive and that’s why I don’t want to be a part of it. There was a time when television was progressive and we had different kinds of shows. There was variety and entertainment for everyone. But today, the kind of content we show is really bad for the younger generation. The kind of regression we show in our reality shows and serials makes people hate themselves. I have also been a part of it and I am really sorry for it. I have contributed to this regression in a way. I don’t approve of what they show on television. Jo bhi bolo, hum Indians hai and hume lagta hai jo TV par dikh raha hai vo sach hain. We take inspiration from it unconsciously.”

On his life in the mountains

Kavita Kaushik says, “I now live in the hills with my husband and we run an Ayurvedic business here. I left Mumbai and come only when I have to shoot here. We had gone to Goa initially but the heat got to me. It was too much. Also, we get all the ingredients easily from the hills as the climate is conducive here. We are now in Uttarakhand. I now live in a huge bungalow with animals and a huge garden where I grow things. I would have more cows and geese now. I have worked a lot in the entertainment industry but I love this lifestyle now.”

Kavita Kaushik is well known for her portrayal of Chandramukhi Chautala in FIR, a role that made her a household name. She made her debut with Ekta Kapoor’s Kutumb. Kaushik has also participated in the reality shows Nach Baliye (2007), Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (2015) and Bigg Boss 15 (2020).
