Under close surveillance set by the relevant state agencies (Ministry of Finance, Real Estate Services and Police), even the most remote beaches in the country thanks to the MyCoast app.
The aim is to avoid arbitrariness and to properly apply the new rules that will come into force on the 1st of the year. The formation of inspection teams composed of several members has already begun, which will examine all serious complaints (starting with the names) about abuses on the country’s beaches.
According to the standards of tax control, the employees of Real Estate Services will be sent off-site, while to avoid the “problems” created by the locality, they will not be “tightened” geographically.
For example, Attica employees will increase control levels in the Aegean islands, and vice versa. This particular practice also perfectly meets the needs of staff in areas where high crime is recorded and complaints fall… rain.
The MyCoast App
The starting point of the audit service plan will be the well-known MyCoast application, where complaints of abuse are filed, but after first clarifying cases related to the settlement of accounts between competitions.
For example, dozens of complaints were filed regarding the Parga region, attracting the interest of the Ministry of Finance. Autopsies were performed on the basis of the complaints, but no wrongdoing was found.
By processing the anonymous complaints, it was determined that they came from two IP addresses (email addresses). After investigation, it turned out that two businessmen with conflicting interests in the region complained about each other.
Something similar was observed in the Halkidiki region, where, due to the high crime rate, control levels were immediately mobilized. And in this case, the mutual complaints of businessmen turned out to be unfounded.
However, the above cases will not relax the vigilance of audits and downgrade complaints to MyCoast. On the contrary.
Of the approximately 8,900 complaints reported by ERT, the burden falls first on the 1,100 named and, from there, it is classified by regional unit and type of concession contract.
Of these complaints, 600 have already been evaluated, which concern 10 regions. This is where the controls of the coming days are concentrated and, as competent sources point out, it is not only about the very popular beaches, which have attracted public attention, for example. the case of Rhodes and Paros, but also for beaches located in areas beyond any suspicion. The only thing that is certain is that Halkidiki will get its due, because complaints of violations and abuses are multiplying.
The instructions
Depending on the instructions received by the competent services, checks can be carried out in two ways:
1) With an autopsy at the seaside and on the beach.
After the autopsy has been performed, an on-site autopsy report is prepared, accompanied by photographic material where possible and provided or displayed immediately, and:
2) With remote photographic capture of the coastal area and the beach, including from unmanned aircraft, operating autonomously or remotely controlled in the air or using satellite images. The Real Estate Service receives the photographic supporting documents and, on this basis, prepares the conclusions – autopsy reports, takes the prescribed administrative measures and imposes the sanctions described by law.
